Cosmetic Dentistry Costs

We’re always moving forward. As the field of dental cosmetics progresses, the technologies involved and materials used become more readily available to more patients. However, for many people who want to improve their smiles, cosmetic dentistry prices can still be a major hurdle. Here are the average price ranges for the three most popular types of procedures.

Chemical Whitening. While there are many over-the-counter whitening treatments (strips, trays, pastes, etc.), many people feel more confident leaving their teeth whitening treatments to the professionals. The average price for in-office whitening is around $650, though the results can last anywhere from six months to a year, depending on diet and lifestyle.

Veneers. The cost of veneers will depend on the number of teeth to be covered and the type of material you use. Composite resin veneers are less expensive than porcelain veneers, but they’re also less durable. Porcelain veneers can last 10 to 20 years, while resin veneers could need replacing after as little as five years. On average, veneers cost $500-$1,300 per tooth covered.

Dental Implants. Cosmetic dentistry prices for titanium implants are much harder to ballpark, as every procedure is highly individualized. The cost is usually split out among two different specialists: the oral surgeon who actually implants the titanium root and the office that makes and attaches the replacement teeth. Taking all that into account, the cost for implants can range widely, from $2,500 for individual teeth to $25,000 for some full-mouth replacement procedures.

Cosmetic dentistry prices can be intimidating, but it helps to put them in context. While implants may seem prohibitively expensive, they can also last a lifetime if cared for properly, which means you’ll have a healthy, functional set of teeth the rest of your life, with only one procedure. Remember that when weighing your options. Good references here.
